They say that “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” so I will take the arrival of DogFriendlyGolfUK.com (thanks Fiona) as a compliment. I am a bit disappointed that that the blatant theft of all data derived from years of diligent research was scraped from DogGolfUK without so much as a hat tip. The website underscores perhaps the most fundamental problem with the web (and for that matter much of the today’s world business) – anonymity. Unlike the very open face of DogGolfUK, with photos, names, contact details, DogFriendlyGolf has no identifying information and their contact form is inoperative. Just taking someone else’s work and taking on some referral links which is how they plan to squeeze money out of this endeavour (DogGolfUK has always been and always will be non-commercial). If anyone has any insight into who the canine culprits are, I would be curious to know more about them. I would have been delighted to collaborate if they had just approached me, but hey ho.
